How to Save Water to Protect the Earth and Save Money
If you are not using the shower or faucet by all means swicth it off. There
is no need to have the water running after you wet your toothbrush, or while lathering your body or shampooing your
hair. Within these moments you save water by turning the tap off, you will save a lot since showering ,and brushing
are things you do daily.
1. Installing low-water flushing toilets that use only one to two gallons of water per flush will save you money and conserve this
precious resource. If you have an existing high-gallon toilet, put a plastic bottle filled with sand into the tank.
This will assist the tank save water and fill it up faster, than it would when it is empty.
2. Use a small basin of water to rinse your shaver instead of running water. Fill up a
small basin with water and dip your razor in it to rinse. Sinks can be filled with germs so It might not be
advisable to rinse the razor in the sink itself, plus it takes more time and water to fill it up.
3.When washing your clothes or dishes do it in big loads. You will use much more water if you wash in several
small loads then in just one big load. This will also help you save time and electrical energy.
4. Use a broom instead of a hose to clean your driveway and side walks .Sometimes water does work efficiency in
the removal of dust and dirt from your pavement. A broom will directly sweep away trash, and you can easily toss it
out when your finished.
5. To prevent water being wasted check all your pipes, faucets, and toilets for leaks. Gallons of water can be
wasted every year from the smallest drips of water leaking from pipes.. At the least make sure you check your water
system to keep any leaks from happening or to promptly repair existing ones.
6. Make compost from your scrap foods rather than using the waste disposal system on your sink,. Sink disposals
use a lot of water. Composts can help you save the
environment as well.
